Alder

Alnus

Alksnis (Alnus)

Alder (Alnus) grows along riverbanks, ditches and damp woodland, fixing nitrogen and stabilising wet soils. Its small woody cones persist on the branches through winter.

The bark and cones are notably astringent and appear in traditional preparations for that property; the fresh buds are the source of the gemmotherapy extract in the Tereško line.
