When a gardener wants to grow something valuable and beautiful in his garden, he cares for the chosen plant from the seed or the seedling all the way to a respectful harvest. Of Dr. Artūrs Tereško you could say that he is a gardener whose garden has no borders, and he treats what grows in the wild just as carefully and responsibly as what he grows himself. Together with his team he walks the meadows and forests to gather each plant at the right time — making sure the plant is at full maturity, that the moon phase suits its drying, and that the other important preconditions are met. Only in this way is it possible to put as much of the herbs' beneficial and medicinal properties, their taste, aroma and strength into the cup of tea.

The list of medicinal plants he knows and their effects is long — 40 years of experience in phytotherapy have allowed Dr. Artūrs Tereško to create a range of health teas, everyday teas, food supplements and skin- and hair-care products suited to a variety of life situations and health concerns. In recent years particular work has gone into food supplements with betulin, the birch-bark extract — there is scientific evidence that betulin has a universal action: in the body it slows cell division, extending potential lifespan, and by strengthening immunity it also suppresses viral and microbial activity. We were among the first in the European Union to register them.

Dr. Tereško teas have been known in Latvia since 1993, when the doctor couple Artūrs and Baiba Tereško, after refresher courses at the Moscow Institute for the Study of Medicinal Plants and Spices, founded the company ZS DOKTUS. In the very beginning the herbs were gathered by the two of them, cut with scissors and dried on the flat’s balcony, then packed into hand-glued paper bags. Today we work in a modern production facility where ten employees are busy every day. To prepare the tea drugs we use wild-growing plants as well as medicinal plants cultivated on “green” farms. We cut and dry the plants using productive, high-quality equipment, but the packing is done by hand, which ensures the unchangingly high quality of the medicinal-herb teas.

Our motto: “May the medicinal plants of God’s garden give health and strength to all people in the world and, especially, in Latvia.”

We believe that knowledge of phytotherapy could be especially useful in conditions where pharmacy medicines were suddenly unavailable. Our planet is rebelling, truly hard times may come, and so we must gather the knowledge of how to use nature’s resources to survive in harsh conditions.
