Common gromwell

Lithospermum officinale

Akmeņu sēkla (Lithospermum officinale)

Common gromwell (Lithospermum officinale) is an upright perennial of the borage family found along roadsides and hedgerows. Its small white flowers ripen into hard, glossy seeds — the "stone seeds" of its name.

The root yields a reddish dye, and the herb appears in older herbals among the diuretic plants.
